About the Service

This service provides support to women who are pregnant (all trimesters) and live within the Porirua, Wellington, and Kapiti area.  We conduct visits in the home where you feel comfortable to learn about your pregnancy and how your baby is developing through each stage.  When you feel comfortable sharing with others, we do have group sessions available that is dependent on numbers.  We can talk to you about how your cultural practices and beliefs can be incorporated as part of your plan when you and your family are planning for your baby.

We base our teaching on the needs of our pregnant mother’s and their families, and giving them advice through different perspectives of others that have engaged with the Antenatal programme. During group sessions women are free to express their feelings and share their ideas with others in similar situations.

Our discussions include:

  • Nutrition

  • Exercise

  • Physical and emotional changes

  • Breastfeeding

  • Safe sleeping practices; signs of what to look out for and what you can do in certain situations

  • Preparation for birth.
