Fast-Track
The Fast Track coordination teams reflect a strong, collaborative effort by agencies within the children’s system to better support tamariki and whānau. Their goal is to improve access to services and enhance coordination between them, ensuring families receive the help they need more efficiently and effectively.

About the Service
The Fast Track service provides a rapid, coordinated response for tamariki and rangatahi who come to the attention of Police and meet specific early intervention criteria. Grounded in the understanding that young people are deeply connected to their whānau, the service offers support not only to the individual but also to their wider family unit.
When a tamaiti or rangatahi is identified by Police, Oranga Tamariki is contacted within 24 hours, and within 48 hours, an initial plan is co-developed between Oranga Tamariki and Police. This early, collaborative planning is designed to provide timely and tailored support that can make a real difference.
The team operates collectively, flexibly, and quickly, with each partner contributing their expertise and resources to enable positive change. While no single provider is solely responsible for delivering all outcomes, each is expected to collaborate and advocate to facilitate progress.
Key Outcomes for Tamariki and Rangatahi:
-
